Learn to Dance and Whip Yourself into Shape!

Dance the art form that speaks to our body and the universal language which speaks to everyone.Who would've thought that once upon a time there was so much emphasis put into teaching one how to dance. With the popular television dance series of today there is no shortage of dance instructors. In fact, they're  in demand more than ever.

Overtime, teaching one how to dance has changed and definitely for the better. Believe it or not once upon a time people learned  from diagrams sort of like mail order dance teaching which in part was made famous by Aurthur Murray in the early twentieth century. Murray trained many professional dancers including the socially elite of his time. Murray's concept was that one can learn how to dance in one evening  just by following his diagram and in turn you would be popular with the ladies. There was also figure dancing which was designed to make dancing with a partner easy. Figure dancing consisted of a strap for the trainee's hand that would be attached to the back of a figure similar to a clothing dummy. In addition, a plate from which a bar extended back and down fitting into a tube. The height of the figure could be adjusted by inserting a pin in any of the number of holes in the bar and tube. The tube terminates in a cup which grips a wooden ball in such a way that the ball rotates easily on the floor. A folding leg was provided to support the figure when it was not in use.

Today, dancing although we don't think about it is a social norm. When you hear music it's natural  to dance as it's a form of bodily expression. When our kids are in grade school to enroll them in a local dance class as an extra curricular activity and it's not out of the ordinary. If you think about the exposure the internet and  television not to mention the  popular TV series like "So You Think You Can Dance" , "Dancing with the Stars" and "America's Got Talent" it's hard not to dance especially with it available for you to view in the comfort of your own home.

One of the things which I am in awe of is the shape that dancers whip  themselves into all from doing something they love. Today dancing countless hours, training to master an art form in many ways has taken the place of going to the gym since it's a workout within itself. You can find some of the best dance instructors near you, online.
